PRESIDENT WELCOME

Andrew J. Park

4th President of KACTS

Respected Members of KACTS,

With great honor and enthusiasm, I assume the role of the 4th President of the Korean American Customs & Trade Study Forum (KACTS). In following the footsteps of my predecessors, I am committed to building upon the foundation of our organization while upholding the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and transparency.

Diversity, inclusiveness, and transparency are the cornerstones of our organization’s mission. KACTS has a vital mission: to share knowledge about customs and international trade, international taxation, and hands-on experience with the latest information about the business sector between Korea and the U.S. Our commitment extends further as we aim to contribute to the development and trade promotion between these two countries and encourage the growth of Korean American customs and trade professionals.

Our strength lies in our diversity, and we must continue to embrace this as a cornerstone of our organization. KACTS is a tapestry woven from many backgrounds, experiences, and talents. Each thread in this tapestry is invaluable; together, we create a vibrant and resilient community.

Inclusiveness is at the heart of our mission. We must ensure that every member feels welcomed and valued within KACTS regardless of their background. We will actively seek and embrace perspectives from all corners of our community, working to break down any barriers to participation. We aim to cultivate an environment where every member has an equal opportunity to flourish and contribute.

Transparency is the bedrock of trust and accountability. We are committed to maintaining open and honest communication with our members and partners. This means sharing information, decisions, and actions openly and promptly. We will ensure our processes, operations, and objectives are clear and accessible. Transparency will be a guiding principle in all our interactions and activities.

As we strengthen connections between the Korean American trade community, U.S. government agencies, and Korean government agencies, we remain firmly dedicated to these principles and our mission. We firmly believe that by embracing diversity, promoting inclusiveness, and maintaining transparency, we can serve our members better and help our community prosper while advancing our mission.

I want to express my gratitude to our dedicated members and valued partners who have been the driving force behind KACTS. We’ve achieved remarkable milestones together, and I’m excited about working closely with each of you to reach even greater heights.

In conclusion, let’s embark on this journey with optimism, unity, and a strong commitment to our shared values: diversity, inclusiveness, transparency, and our mission. Together, we’ll make KACTS even more robust, inclusive, and transparent while remaining firmly committed to fulfilling our mission.

I appreciate your ongoing support and eagerly anticipate the exciting journey ahead.

Best regards,

Andrew J. Park

2nd President of KACTS

Dear Members and Friends of KACTS,

It was my pleasure being the 2nd President of the Korean American Customs & Trade Study Forum (KACTS) with all the profound members and their supports.

As we face a structural transition in the global economy, KACTS will strengthen differentiated support centered on the trade industry so that our Korean trade community can respond to the rapidly changing trade environment and increase global competitiveness.

KACTS will become a focal point for active communication with traders and Customs Border Protection (CBP) and become a partner for traders on this path of bold and innovative change.

Thank you for being our members and have the interest to build this relationship more stronger every year.

2nd President of KACTS

Andrew Seo

1st President of KACTS

Greetings,

The Korean American Customs & Trade Study Forum (KACTS) was found on August 29th of 2013 by a handful of Korean American customhouse brokers and trade related professionals. KACTS has grown into one of the most active & informative association in Korean American Trade Community in short time.  It has been the commitment of KACTS to foster communication between the Korean American trade community and the CBP, FDA and other U.S. federal agencies as well as Korea Customs Service in order to promote businesses between U.S. and Korea.

KACTS played integral part of KORUS FTA (Korea & U.S. Free Trade) 2nd anniversary commemoration in March of 2014 and currently working with U.S. Department of Commerce, District Export Council of Southern California, Korea General Counsel Office of Los Angeles, KOTRA and other trade associations to celebrate the 3rd KORUS FTA anniversary.  The KORUS FTA is the second-largest U.S. FTA (next to NAFTA).  In goods trade in 2013, South Korea was the sixth-largest trading partner of the United States, and the United States was South Korea’s second-largest trading partner.  Reports from various sources indicated that KORUS FTA is significantly benefitting both nation’s economy as expected.

The biggest accomplishment of KACTS in 2014 in my opinion was reaching out to other Korean American trade associations to co-host educational seminars to benefit their members.  Rather than vague and broad topic subjects, KACTS provided tailored seminars for many different Korean American trade associations.  KACTS will continue to inform and share latest trade related news & regulations from CBP and other federal agencies with Korean American trade community.

I am so honored to serve as president of KACTS, representing elite & wonderful group of trade professionals.  We all worked so hard to achieve wonderful results in 2014, but bigger challenges are waiting for us in 2015.  Let’s gather our efforts and energy to serve the Korean American trade community!

Sincerely,

Andrew Seo

President of KACTS
